What is an Importer of Record (IOR) and Exporter of Record (EOR) ?
An Importer of Record (IOR), is the owner, purchaser, customs broker or facilitator that imports goods on behalf of the end customer. The IOR is recognized as the official party of an international shipment transaction by the government and is responsible for paying duty/taxes, filing specific declarations with various government agencies, obtaining any licensing certification and authorizations to export if required for a commodity.
Similarly an Exporter of Record (EOR) is noted as the owner or seller of goods being exported from an origin country to a destination country.
